Tour de Timor 2016

The Tour de Timor 2016 was the eighth edition of the annual mountain bike race in East Timor . It took place from September 13th to 17th and was UCI Category 3.

The first stage led from Dili, via Dare to Manatuto . The route was 82.5 km long. The second stage went over 92.5 km to Quelicai and over 83.5 km the third to Iliomar . On the fourth day the tour went south around the Ira Lalaro to Mehara and then to Lospalos . At 104 km, this was the longest stage. The final stage ran over 88 km from Lospalos to Baucau . For the first time the tour did not end in Dili. The winner in the men was the Portuguese David Vaz , in the women his compatriot Celina Carpinteiro . Vaz won four of the five stages, winning ahead of Kazakhs Kirill Kazantsev and Malaysian Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi . The best East Timorese was Jacinto de Jesus da Costa . A total of 120 participants from 19 countries started. The winners received $ 58,000 in prize money.
