Tour of Qinghai Lake 2006

The Tour of Qinghai Lake is a cycling race in the Chinese province of Qinghai , which is part of the UCI Asia Tour and is classified in the 2nd HC category.

The 6th Tour of Qinghai Lake took place July 15-23, 2006. It was held in nine stages over a distance of 1,307 km. Fixed points on the stage trip were the metropolis of Xining and the Qinghai Lake , one of the largest saltwater lakes in the world. The drivers mostly moved at an altitude of 2000 to 3000 meters above sea level.

Overall winner was the Dutchman Maarten Tjallingii from the Skil-Shimano team ahead of the Iranian Hossein Askari ( Giant Asia Racing Team ) and the Spaniard Nácor Burgos from the Relax-GAM Fuenlabrada team , who won the sprint classification; his team mate and compatriot Óscar García-Casarrubios won the mountain classification. Relax-GAM Fuenlabrada won the team competition.
