Trassilico is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of Gallicano in the province of Lucca , Tuscany region in Italy .
geography
The place is about 4 km southwest of the main town Camporgiano, about 25 km north of the provincial capital Lucca and about 70 km northwest of the regional capital Florence in the upper valley of the Serchio . Trassilico is located in the eastern Alpi Apuane and in the Garfagnana landscape east of the Pania della Croce (1858 m) and Monte Forato (1230 m) mountains . The place is 722 m and in 2001 had about 100 inhabitants. In 2017 it was around 85.
history
The place was first mentioned in 749 by the archbishops of Lucca. As Trassilico de 'Lucchesi, the place belonged to Lucca until 1451, when Borso d'Este installed the Vicaria delle Terre Nuove under his rule, which also included Trassilico. Later the place became an independent municipality, to which Fabbriche di Vallico also belonged. In 1947 the municipal seat was moved to Fabbriche di Vallico (today part of Fabbriche di Vergemoli ), in 1948 Trassilico became a part of Gallicano.
Attractions
- Santi Pietro e Paolo , church just below the village, which was built around the 12th century. Contains the work Vergine col Bambino seduta in trono (written in 1568) by Simone Careta .
- San Rocco , church in the town center (18th century).
- Santa Elisbetta , church at the entrance to the village. Made in 1577.
- Rocca Estense , ruined castle at the highest point of Trassilico, which was built from the 10th century. The main tower (Italian Mastio ) was probably built in the 13th century.
