The Trauchbach is a small mountain stream in the Gutenstein Alps in the municipality of Schwarzau im Gebirge in the Semmering – Rax region in Lower Austria.
Run and landscape
The Trauchbach rises at Bärenköpfl (approx. 1422 m above sea level ), the point at which the ridge of the Mistelbacher Höhe branches off from the main ridge of the Göller-Gippel train to the Obersberg . It then runs north-east through the Schneelahntal and after about 4 kilometers reaches the village of Trauch , a remote district of Schwarzau. Here the Muschelgraben flows from the left from the Wassertal from the Geißücken (Mitteriegel 982 m above sea level , Schwaigerkogel 943 m above sea level ). After Trauch the valley narrows, it joins the Stuppachergraben from the Trauchberg (summit 939 m above sea level ) from the left. After a further 3 kilometers, the brook flows into the Tiefental , at the Schwarzau municipal border with Rohr im Gebirge , from the right into the uppermost Schwarza .
It has been customary since ancient times to add the gorge of the Tiefental to the Trauchbach, about 2 more kilometers to Gschaiderwirt , or to call this section the Tiefentalerbach .
