The Treisbach , in the upper reaches of Engelbach , is a 17.2 km long right tributary of the Wetschaft in the southeastern Rothaargebirge and its slope in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district , Central Hesse . From a purely hydrological point of view, it is actually the main river of the Wetschaft system.

course

The source of the Engelbach can be found on the southern slope of the 674 m high bagpipe , the surroundings of which on the southeastern edge of the Rothaargebirge form a natural area of their own of the same name .

The Engelbach flows off in a south-easterly direction and crosses the B 253 after only two kilometers . From this intersection, Landesstraße 3091 follows him into the bagpipe foreheads via the Biedenkopfer districts of Dexbach and Engelbach .

At the boundary to Wetter , it enters the Wetschaft depression and shares its name from the district of Treisbach . When the district Oberndorf the river undergoes a significant change in direction (Eastern) Northeast, what the incoming projecting into the Wetschaft sink Wollenberg is owed, whose foot is curves around the north.

In Amönau , the Treisbach in the Asphe flows from the left to its longest and most water-rich tributary. Two kilometers east-northeast the river finally flows into the Wetschaft in the north of Wetter .

Main river

Although the Treisbach is somewhat shorter at the confluence with the Wetschaft (17.2 km compared to approx. 20 km) and has a slightly smaller catchment area (68.2 vs. 87.4 km²), its discharge is 810 l / s higher than that of the Wetschaft (666 l / s). Therefore, the estuary can be seen as an equal confluence of the two main arms, whose catchment areas also differ significantly in terms of natural space ; the Wetschaft drained primarily to the West Hesse Highlands to computing Burgwald , the Treisbach which the Süderbergland attributed bagpipe-Vorhöhen .
