Trevor Bannister

Trevor S. Bannister (born August 14, 1934 in Durrington , Wiltshire , † April 14, 2011 in Thames Ditton , Surrey ) was a British actor who was served by the role of Mr. Lucas in the popular British comedy television series Are You Being ? Gained notoriety.

Life

Career

Trevor Bannister began acting at the age of 15. After studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art , he made his stage debut in 1960, directed by Lindsay Anderson , in Billy Liar alongside Albert Finney in the Cambridge Theater in London's West End .

Bannister began his series appearances on British television in the early 1960s and landed his first recurring roles in the mid-1960s as Peter Barry on the series Object Z and Object Z Returns . He later played the role of Darkie Pilbeam, a black market dealer, in the 1968 television series The War of Darkie Pilbeam and from 1969 to 1970 he played as "Heavy Breathing" in Jack Rosenthal's sitcom The Dustbinmen . Shortly thereafter, he was asked to play the role of Mr. Lucas in the Comedy Playhouse pilot Are You Being Served? to play and later took over the part in the television series of the same name.

In 2007 he appeared in a leading role as Korbin Thessinger in Doctor Who's radio play adventure Nocturne .

Private life

Bannister was the youngest of three siblings. He himself has three sons - Jeremy, Simon and Timothy - with his first wife Kathleen. He lived in Surrey with his second wife Pamela until his death .

Trevor Bannister died on April 14, 2011, at the age of 76, after a heart attack in his allotment garden in Thames Ditton, Surrey, England.
