Triazophos is a thiophosphoric acid ester and is the active ingredient of the insecticide Hostathion from Bayer CropScience (formerly Hoechst ). The active ingredient is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor .

Admission

Triazophos had been approved in the FRG since 1975. It was approved as an insecticide in the EU until December 31, 2004 (EU Regulation No. 2076/2002), but approval was revoked by EU Regulation No. 1336/2003 on July 25, 2003.

Today, no pesticides containing this active ingredient are permitted in the EU or Switzerland .

It is approved in some countries such as India , Mali, and the Philippines .

use

Today, Triazophos still mainly plays a role in Asia, where it is still marketed, for example, by the Bayer CropScience subsidiary in Indonesia. However, its application is not without controversy, especially in India.

proof

Triazophos can be analyzed using liquid chromatography or gas chromatography .
