Trigonopoma is a genus of small freshwater fish found in Thailand , Cambodia , the Malay Peninsula, and Indonesia .

features

Trigonopoma species have an elongated, laterally flattened body that reaches a maximum length of 5.5 to 7 cm. The head is pointed, the fins long and sometimes longer than the body is high. The caudal fin is forked. Trigonopoma species have a colored band along the sides of the body. The sideline is incomplete or completely absent.

Trigonopoma differs from Rasbora by the triangular gill cover reduced in the upper half .

Systematics

The two species of the genus originally belonged to the collective genus Rasbora . In 2010 Liao, Kullander & Fang established the genus Trigonopoma , which is the sister genus to Boraras .
