Tschaschwitz , in Upper Sorbian Časecy , is a village in the center of the Bautzen district in Upper Lusatia and has been part of the Panschwitz-Kuckau community since 1974 . Tschaschwitz is located in the Sorbian core settlement area about five kilometers southeast of Panschwitz-Kuckau. Most of the population speaks Sorbian .
The neighboring towns are Lehndorf in the northeast, Auschkowitz in the southeast, Kleinhchenchen in the southwest and Siebitz in the northwest.
history
The Rundweiler was first mentioned in 1264 as a treasure trove . The manorial rule lay with the St. Marienstern Monastery , which meant that Tschaschwitz remained Catholic after the Reformation .
Tschaschwitz was an independent rural community until 1957, then it was incorporated into Lehndorf .
population
According to statistics from Arnošt Muka , 55 of the 57 inhabitants in 1884 (96%) were Sorbs. Ernst Tschernik determined in 1956 that the Sorbian-speaking population was 54.9%.
The predominantly Catholic population has been parish to Crostwitz since ancient times .
