Glaubnitz , Hłupońca in Upper Sorbian , is a village in the center of the Bautzen district in Upper Lusatia and has been part of the Panschwitz-Kuckau community since 1994 . Glaubnitz is located in the Sorbian core settlement area about five kilometers south of Panschwitz-Kuckau above the monastery water . It is the only part of the community that is exclusively Protestant and German-speaking.
The neighboring towns are Jiedlitz in the northeast, Uhyst am Taucher in the southeast, Säuritz in the southwest and Kaschwitz in the northwest. Federal motorway 4 runs not far to the south .
history
The Rundweiler was first mentioned in 1374 as Glupenicz . Most of the manorial power lay with the St. Marienstern Monastery .
Glaubnitz was an independent rural community until January 1, 1957, then it was first united with Kaschwitz and in 1974 incorporated into Ostro together with the latter .
population
According to Arnošt Muka's statistics , in 1884 out of a total of 98 inhabitants, 52 were Sorbs (53%). In 1956 Ernst Tschernik determined that the Sorbian-speaking population was only 7%. This made Glaubnitz the least Sorbian-speaking part of today's municipality.
The Protestant residents of Glaubnitz are parish in Uhyst am Taucher .
