Alte Ziegelscheune , Stara Cyhelnica in Upper Sorbian , is a village in the center of the Bautzen district in Upper Lusatia and has been part of the Panschwitz-Kuckau community since 1957 . Old brick barn is located in the Sorbian core settlement area halfway from Kuckau to Crostwitz on the Trjebinka stream . Most of the population speaks Sorbian .
The neighboring towns are Caseritz in the north, Crostwitz in the east and Kuckau in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1718 as brick slips . The manorial power lay with the St. Marienstern Monastery , which led to the Alte Ziegelscheune remaining Catholic after the Reformation .
Alte Ziegelscheune was an independent rural community until 1879, when it was incorporated into Kuckau .
population
According to Arnošt Muka's statistics , in 1884 all 58 inhabitants were Sorbs. In 1956, Ernst Tschernik determined a Sorbian-speaking population of 84.8% in the municipality of Kuckau.
The Catholic population is parish to Crostwitz .
