Tscheslav Alexandrowitsch Schumilow ( Russian Чеслав Александрович Шумилов ; * 1973 in Slatoust ) is a former Russian natural track tobogganist and trainer. With his doubles partner Andrei Tschernezow he achieved three top 5 placings at world and European championships as well as first place at the 1991 European junior championships .

Career

Tscheslav Schumilow took part in Junior European Championships from 1990 to 1992 . After finishing 19th in the single-seater in 1990 , he celebrated his first international success in 1991 in Kandalakscha when he and Andrei Tschernezow became Junior European Champion in the two-seater. The next year he achieved fourth place in the doubles together with Georgi Vorobjow .

From 1992 to 1996 the duo Schumilow / Tschernezow took part in world and European championships . At the 1992 World Cup in Bad Goisern they came fifth and at the 1994 World Cup in Gsies they came fourth. In 1995 a fifth place followed at the European Championships in Kandalakscha. At the 1993 European Championships in Stein an der Enns and the 1996 World Championships in Oberperfuss , they each took eighth place. In the single-seater, Tscheslav Schumilow only took part in the 1992 World Championships, in which he achieved 42nd place out of 46 rated tobogganers.

After his active career, Shumilov began to work as a coach in the United States . Until 2011 he was a Western Regional Development Coach in the US Luge Federation for several years .
