The former municipality of Tunding has belonged to the municipality of Mengkofen since January 1, 1971 .

geography

Tunding is located in the northern part of the Dingolfing-Landau district in the tertiary hill country . In a right side valley of the Aiterach , it is surrounded by moderate hills, only open to the west. The Schwedenbach, popularly known as the “Schwebach”, flows in the bottom of the valley and flows into the Aiterach between Mengkofen and Ettenkofen .

The community comprised five districts. The parish village of Obertunding was the seat of the municipality and is the seat of the Roman Catholic parish Tunding, which has existed since 1772, and with 255 inhabitants it is by far the largest district. The village of Niedertunding, formerly just a hamlet , had 44 inhabitants and the Einödhof Neukreit 3 inhabitants (as of the census of May 25, 1987). The village of Oberwackerstall (51 inhabitants) and the hamlet of Unterwackerstall (21 inhabitants) used to belong to the former municipality of Puchhausen . The corresponding part of the area with a good 130 hectares, probably a southern exclave of Puchhausen, was reclassified to Tunding on July 1, 1931 and expanded the municipality to the east. A sixth district, Pfarrholz , for a remote farm in the south of the former municipality, was only officially named after the municipality was dissolved. There is no place called tunding , but Obertunding is colloquially referred to as tunding .

The parish church of St. Katharina is located in Obertunding. Until the reform of the deanery in 2000, the Roman Catholic parish of Tunding included the former municipality of Lengthal , which has belonged to Moosthenning since May 1, 1978, in addition to the former municipality of Tunding .

Atypical for a former municipality, Tunding does not form a separate district , but belongs to the district of Tunzenberg .

history

According to the tax book of 1434, Tunding belongs to the Moosthenning chairman in the Lengthal district .

The chairmanship of Tunding, which existed in the 18th century, included the parish village of Obertunding (26 properties) as well as the village of Graflkofen (3 properties, today Mamming ), twelve kilometers away . Niedertunding (7 properties) on the other hand belonged to the Moosthenning and Thürnthenning chairmanship .
