Tusk is a 1979 music album by the rock band Fleetwood Mac .

history

With Rumors , the band had presented an album in 1977 that was one of the most successful in band and rock history. They won Grammy Awards for this album and went back to the studio in 1978 to record new songs. The financial success of Rumors ensured that the band received a budget of $ 1 million to record. The donors of Warner expected a similarly compact mainstream album as Rumors it was. The monumental double album was then shaped by musical experiments by Lindsey Buckingham and was far less well received than the previous album . Tusk ultimately did not achieve the expected top position in the US charts and only came in 4th place. Still, over two million Tusk albums were sold in the next few years . Like Rumors, Tusk climbed to first place in the album charts in Great Britain , and in Germany the album was even more successful than Rumors , which reached No. 3 as the highest ranking, than Rumors , which only managed to reach 6th place.

In 2001 the entire album was covered by the group Camper Van Beethoven and released in 2002 on the Pitch-A-Tent label. (It was originally claimed that these recordings were made in 1987.)

In 2004 a new edition was released as a double CD, which, in addition to the 20 original songs, contained another CD with demo, live and remix versions.

In 2015 the album was re-released as a Super Deluxe Edition. The box contains a remastered version of the original album on 2 vinyl LPs and CD, two further CDs with previously unreleased alternative and demo versions, two CDs with live recordings from the 1980 Tusk tour and a DVD with a 5.1 surround mix in dts and Dolby Digital. The live recordings as well as the alternative version of the album were also released as 3-LP ("In Concert") and 2-LP ("The Alternate Tusk") records in the course of 2015.
