The Tutontschana ( Russian Тутончана ), also Tutonschana called (Тутоншана), is a 459 km long, north or right tributary of the Lower Tunguska in putorana plateau , the northwestern part of the Central Siberian Uplands , both in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region of central Siberia and Russia ( Asia ).

The Tutontschana rises in the southwest part of the Putoranagebirges south of the mountain range Woswyschennost Taldaktakon located and 892  m high mountain. It flows through the unpopulated southwestern foothills of the mountains in a predominantly southerly direction and, crossing the Arctic Circle towards the south, runs in a valley of the Sywermaplateau through zones of the forest tundra . After passing the Awsa mountain ( 761  m ), it flows into the Lower Tunguska near Tutontschany at an altitude of about 65  m , which flows into the Yenisei 444 kilometers below .

Tributaries and ice drift

The many tributaries of the Tutontschana, whose catchment area is about 16,800 km², include Muili , Chomtogo , Delingde , Churingda , Upper Chikili , Biltschany and Lower Chikili . The river is covered by ice from around October to late May or early June . When the region's permafrost thaws and the ice and snow melt, strong floods often occur .
