Uście Solne is a former town, now a village with a mayor office of Gmina Szczurowa in the Brzeski powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is located on the right bank of the Raba River , not far from where it flows into the Vistula . The neighboring towns are Popędzyna and Barczków in the northeast, Strzelce Wielkie in the east, Wrzępia in the southeast, Cerekiew in the south, and Niedary in the west.
history
1360 Uście Solne King was Casimir the Great , the Magdeburg rights granted, but maybe the city had already the Neumarkt law . The name Uście is a form of the Polish word ujście (mouth) and the adjective solny is associated with the transport of salt from Bochnia , upstream on the Raba and further on the Vistula. The town had a larger market square than Bochnia , Brzesko or Niepołomice , but this perspective turned out to be exaggerated and by the end of the 16th century the town had clearly under 1000 inhabitants. However, Krakow was one of the 14 cities in the Voivodeship with the largest Jewish population (see shtetl ).
When Poland was first partitioned , Uście Solne became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). From 1855 Jaśliska belonged to the Bochnia district .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Uście Solne came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . In 1934 Uście Solne lost its town charter. From 1975 to 1998 Uście Solne was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
