Location of the station

The subway station Horner Geest is a planned new station of the Hamburg subway . The name was set on June 6, 2019; Dannerallee was previously used as the working name .

It was decided to build the Horner Geest underground station in order to be able to better connect the residential areas of Horner Geest to the local public transport network. With the new underground station, around 13,000 residents will have a better connection to the transport network, which until now has mostly only been provided by bus lines.

In the course of the planned extension of the U4 underground line to the Horner Geest area to the east of the center, the preliminary design plan was announced in a press release on May 16, 2017. The two-track (provisional) terminus will have a central platform. A possible later extension towards Jenfeld is kept open.

The Horner Geest underground station will - just like the first two new stations of the U4 ( Überseequartier and HafenCity University ) - be built using the open construction method.

At the existing station of the U2 and U4 Horner Rennbahn lines , the new line of the U4 to the Horner Geest station out of town will unwind from the shared section of the U2 and U4 from the existing route and run through the Stoltenstraße station to Horner Geest. As part of the construction of the new U4 line, the Horner Rennbahn station will be supplemented on the south side by another, separate station section with a platform for a new track leading out of town. The trains of the U4 from the direction of Horner Geest and the U2 from the direction of Mümmelmannsberg will then each be able to approach one of the previous two tracks of the Horner Rennbahn station heading west.

Construction of the new U4 line with the underground station began on April 6, 2020, and the opening is Template: future / in 5 yearsexpected in the mid-2020s . The Hamburger Hochbahn expects 13,600 passengers a day on this section of the route in 2030.
