The Metro Station Lohring is a metro station in the Witten street in the district Altenbochum in Bochum . It opened on January 29, 2006. It is served by lines 302 and 310 of the Bogestra .

The construction time was eight years. The station was created by mining. The half-tube is 12 m high and 90 m long. The platform area is 550 m². The station is one of the largest column-free underground stations in Germany.

The station was designed by the architects Holger Rübsamen and Boris E. Biskamp, ​​Büro Rübsamen + Partner. The light art comes from Eva-Maria Joeressen . The sound collages come from Klaus Kessner.

The half-tube is clad with aluminum plates. The entrance level is illuminated in red. The platform floor consists of square, 964 × 964 mm glass plates, which are illuminated in green from below.

In September 2011, a burning train had to be extinguished here.
