Quinta das Conchas is a metro station on the Linha Amarela of the Lisbon Metro , the subway network of the Portuguese capital . The train station is located below Rua Luís Pastor de Macedo, right next to the Quinta das Conchas e Lilases public park in the Lumiar municipality of Lisbon . The neighboring stations are Campo Grande and Lumiar ; the station went into operation on March 27, 2004.

history

The metro station is part of the section between Campo Grande and Odivelas, opened in 2004, and is located in the southern part of the municipality of Lumiar . The aim of extending the yellow line ( Linha Amarela ) was primarily to connect the heavily populated areas in the north of Lisbon to the rapid transit network.

A team of architects led by Bartolomeu Costa Cabral was responsible for the construction of the station (planning name Quinta das Mouras ) ; Mário Crespo , João Gomes and Anabela João were also involved. They designed a relatively sober station with a flat platform ceiling and the two 105-meter-long side platforms customary in Lisbon. The station is built in such a way that there is a continuous mezzanine floor over the entire length of the station. A total of three exits lead to the surface, one directly to the park (north), one to the neighboring residential area (west) and another access to the main street Avenida Maria Helena Vieira da Silva . The elevator between the mezzanine and the street surface is located at the middle entrance.

The two artists Joana Rosa and Manuel Baptista were commissioned to design the station . Joana Rosa designed numerous tile motifs with the title Scribbling and doodling (for example "Scribbling and scribbling"), which run through the train station and show numerous drawings made in everyday life. Baptista, in turn, dealt with various patterns on stones and tiles that are supposed to be reminiscent of Arab art.

After the station opened on March 27, 2004, there were no more significant changes.
