Odivelas is a metro station on the Linha Amarela of the Lisbon Metro , the subway network of the Portuguese capital . The station is located parallel to Radia del Odivelas (IC-22) between Rua Almeida Garrett and Rua Egas Moniz and thus outside the Lisbon urban area in the city of the same name . Odivelas forms the northern end point of the Linha Amarela , it has only one neighboring station ( Senhor Roubado ) and went into operation on March 27, 2004.

The Odivelas metro station , which went into operation on March 27, 2004, forms the northern end of the third extension of the Linha Amarela to the north. This was seen as essential in terms of population and transport policy, since, in contrast to many other suburbs of Lisbon, Odivelas did not have its own rail connection to the capital until 2004. With the youngest section of the Linha Amarela , which includes four other stations ( Quinta das Conchas , Lumiar , Ameixoeira and Senhor Roubado ), this was a thing of the past.

The train station was designed by the architect Paulo Brito da Silva . Although the platforms are mostly illuminated with artificial light only at the southern end, the station itself is in an elevated position in a large concrete cuboid parallel to the Radial de Odivelas . Due to the large valley between Ameixoeira and Odivelas , the metro runs on this section above ground on a long viaduct. The station has the usual two 105 meter long side platforms. The artistic design of the station was done by Álvaro Lapa , who designed various line drawings of body parts on tiles.

In the medium term, it is planned that Odivelas will lose its function as a terminus and that the Linha Amarela will be extended to the north. According to the current state of planning, the yellow line should branch out at Odivelas station ; a branch should lead to the northwest to the center of the municipality of Odivelas. Another junction should lead in the direction of Loures . Currently, all far-reaching planning is suspended due to Portugal's budgetary position.
