The USNS Apache (T-ATF 271) is an ocean tug of the United States Navy and belongs to the Powhatan class . She has served in the US Navy since 1981.
history
The ship was on 22 March 1979 by the Marinette Marine -Werft in Marinette , Wisconsin on down Kiel . The launch took place on March 28, 1981, after further equipment work, the Apache was handed over to the Military Sealift Command of the US Navy on July 23, 1981 .
She was assigned to the US Atlantic Fleet and stationed at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek in Little Creek , Delaware . However, the ship currently belongs to the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force and is used worldwide.
The Apache towed the Iowa to reactivate in New Orleans in the fall of 1982 , where it was prepared for its new mission at Avondale Shipyards . In the summer of 2006, the Apache was deployed off the West African coast. At the turn of the year 2015/16, one of their diving robots delivered pictures of the wreck of the sunken El Faro .
