The EJ 675 series is a version of the ČD series 471 train procured by the Ukrainian railway company Ukrsalisnyzja , which is used specifically in express train services on networks with 3 kV DC voltage and 25 kV 50 Hz AC voltage . Compared to the original variant, the unit was procured as a six-part unit with two power cars and four sidecars. The name comes from the Czech language and means E lektrická J ednotka (electrical unit), type 675 .

history

Two electric trains from the series were procured in 2012 in preparation for the 2012 European Football Championship . The trains were intended for suburban traffic in the Kiev area . The procurement contract with Škoda Vagonka was signed on January 12, 2011 ; the value of the two electric trains was € 39.9 million. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine provided an option to purchase 50 to 60 trains from Škoda Vagonka.

In March 2012, the first train passed the test on the Velim railway test ring . On March 13, 2012, the train in the Czech Republic was handed over to the delegation of the Ukrzalisnyzja in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Infrastructure Boris Viktorwitsch Kolesnikow.

On March 25, 2012, the train arrived in Kharkiv Sortirovochnoj at the Piwdenna Zaliznytsia . It was transferred from the Czech Republic to the Ukraine exclusively by rail via Chop , Lviv and Kiev . Different gauges had to be overcome. The start-up and installation of the train was carried out in the Kharkiv Sortirovochnoj station in the DC range and on the Ogulzui - Kolomak section in the AC range . Commissioning was carried out in the Losowa - Slovyansk sections in the direct current range and in the section around Baryschiwka in the alternating current range.

technical description

Technically, the train is based on the ČD class 471, reworked for the needs of the Ukrzalisnyzja . It was intended for electrified railway lines with the voltage systems 3 kV direct voltage and 25 kV 50 Hz alternating voltage , with a track width of 1,520 mm and speeds of up to 160 km / h.

The train has 636 seats, 1st class is upstairs. For travelers with limited physical abilities, there are separate places, plus four lifting platforms for wheelchairs and special sanitary facilities.

business

The trains were operated from May to October 2012 on the sections Kharkiv - Donetsk - Mariupol - Donetsk - Dnipropetrovsk - Kharkiv and Kharkiv - Dnipropetrovsk - Donetsk - Luhansk - Donetsk - Kharkiv.

First they operated on the Kharkov / Donetsk - Simferopol routes and, after 2014, on the Kiev - Kharkov / Ternopil routes . They have been shut down since 2018 due to technical malfunctions, are in a depot in Kiev and are waiting for a general overhaul.

Designation of the series and wagons

The designation EJ 675 was given for the entire series and was not written on the car. The first number in the sequence of digits indicates the vehicle type with regard to the equipment of the current areas (direct / alternating current), the second and third digits indicate the track width of 1,520 mm. The manufacturer referred to the motor cars as 225 and the sidecars as 227 . In operational terms, the motor cars were designated as 225 and the sidecars as 226 and 227 .
