Calls

On September 20, 1943, U 270 sank the British frigate HMS Lagan ( Lage ) of the convoy ON-202.

Downfall

On August 13, 1944, with the port of destination was La Pallice from Lorient next U 270 from a flying boat of the type Short Sunderland  "A" (Fg.Off. DA Little) of the 461st  RAAF discovered -Geschwaders and ( location ) with six depth charges occupied, which destroyed the pressure hull. The boat, overloaded with evacuated port personnel, sank at 12:10 a.m. Ten men died and 71 survived.
