U 321 was a German submarine from the Type VII C , which in World War II by the German navy was used.

history

U 321 served as a training boat until the end of February 1945 . During this time the boat belonged to the 4th U-Flotilla , a training flotilla stationed in Stettin . On March 1, U 321 was assigned to the 11th U-Flotilla , to which it belonged until it was sunk.

Calls

On March 1, 1945, U 321 ran under the command of Fritz Berends from Kiel to Horten , where the boat arrived on March 9, 1945. From here, U 321 set out on its first patrol on March 15. The North Atlantic was intended as the operational area .

Downfall

On April 2, 1945 U 321 was detected by the radar of a Vickers Wellington of the 302nd (Polish) squadron of the RAF . On the advice of the navigator, the pilot of the machine began the approach, whereupon the submarine, which had apparently been on the lookout for aircraft, submerged. U 321 was from the Polish machine with six depth charges proven and true even though no oil floating boat debris was spotted remember when dropped.
