history
U 363 undertook seven patrols in the North Sea during its service. During the 5th patrol, the Soviet ship Proletarij with 1123 GRT was sunk on December 2, 1944 .
Calls
After its commissioning on March 18, 1943, U 363 initially served as a training boat for the 8th U-Flotilla . From June 1944, U 363 was assigned to the 11th U-Flotilla as a front boat and finally switched to the 13th U-Flotilla in September 1944 , where it remained until the end of the war.
Surrender and sinking
On May 18 or 19, 1945, KptLt. Werner Nees opposite the 9th Escort Group of the Royal Navy. All crew members were taken into British captivity unharmed. On December 31, 1945 U 363 was sunk as part of Operation Deadlight at around 11.45 p.m. by artillery fire from the British ships HMS Onslaught and ORP Blyskawica .
