Trevor Lindsay Letowski (born April 5, 1977 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach who played 633 games for the Phoenix Coyotes , Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets between 1994 and 2010 and Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League on the right winger position . Since summer 2017 he has been the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League .
Career
Trevor Letowski began his career in 1994 in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sarnia Sting . In the 1996 NHL Entry Draft , the Phoenix Coyotes selected him in the seventh round in 174th place. In 1997 he moved to the American Hockey League for the Springfield Falcons , where he played until 1999. In the 1998/99 season Letowski completed 14 games for the Phoenix Coyotes and scored two goals. He stayed in Phoenix for four seasons before being transferred to the Vancouver Canucks in December 2001 . Other stations in the National Hockey League were the Columbus Blue Jackets between 2003 and 2006 and the Carolina Hurricanes between 2006 and 2008. Letowski completed a total of 616 games in the NHL and scored 84 goals.
During the lockout of the NHL season 2004/05 he ran for Friborg-Gottéron from the Swiss National League A in. With his last club Barys Astana from Kazakhstan , the striker was under contract from August 2008 and ended his career in 2010.
As a trainer
In February 2011, Letowski was hired as interim coach of the Sarnia Sting from the Ontario Hockey League after the dismissal of Dave MacQueen . Since then he has been a member of the Sting coaching staff, alternately as assistant and head coach. Since summer 2017 he has been the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires in the same league
In 2014 he won the bronze medal at the U18 World Junior Championship with the Canadian U18 team as assistant coach to Kevin Dineen .
