Ucureña is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Ucureña is located in the province of Germán Jordán in the municipality of Cliza on the 490 km² fertile plateau of the Valle Alto and is the fifth largest city of the Valle Alto. The village is located at an altitude of 2714  m between Cliza, three kilometers away, in the west and Punata, ten kilometers away, in the east.

Ucureña lies in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 20 ° C in October / November. The annual precipitation is only around 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 90 to 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Transport network

Ucureña lies at a distance of 44 kilometers by road southeast of Cochabamba , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Cochabamba the paved road Ruta 7 leads in a south-easterly direction 33 kilometers to Tolata , from there an unpaved road over eight kilometers further south to Cliza and then on to Ucureña .
