Udo Hein

Udo Hein (born December 27, 1914 in Hirschberg , Province of Silesia , † January 19, 1971 in Luxembourg ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Hein, who was of Protestant faith, began studying law and political science at the University of Berlin , passed the first state examination in law at the Berlin Chamber of Commerce in 1938 and then studied international public law, international law and political science at the Institut de Droit International of the Sorbonne . At the same time he worked as a research assistant at the German Embassy in Paris . In 1940 he became a government trainee in Liegnitz . He then took part in the Second World War as a soldier in the Air Force , most recently as a lieutenant in a paratrooper unit.

After the end of the war, Hein continued his studies, which he completed in 1948 at the University of Cologne with the second state examination in law and with the doctorate to Dr. jur. finished. He entered the service of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and since 1949 was the personal advisor to the Minister for Reconstruction, Fritz Steinhoff , Heinrich Lübke and Otto Schmidt . Subsequently, he was advisor for cabinet, state parliament and federal affairs in the state chancellery and there since 1957 ministerial director and head of department. In 1958 he completed a year of training in the United States . In addition, Hein was a member of the ÖTV and employee of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation .

Political party

Hein joined the SPD in 1947 and was a member of the working group of social democratic lawyers .

MP

Hein was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 until his resignation on December 22, 1966 and from 1969 until his death. In the fifth electoral term he was drawn into parliament via the state list of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia and in the sixth electoral term he represented the constituency of Dinslaken . 1970/71 he was a member of the European Parliament .

Public offices

From 1966 to 1969, Hein was an official state secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation .
