Ueli Mäder

Ueli Mäder (born May 18, 1951 in Beinwil am See ) is a Swiss sociologist .

Life

From 1972 Mäder studied sociology , psychology and philosophy at the University of Basel . In the 1970s he co-founded the left-wing POCH party . In 1983 Mäder received her doctorate . Since 1991 he has been working as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland . After his habilitation in 1998, he first worked as a private lecturer in Basel . From 2001 to 2005 Mäder was an associate professor at the University of Freiburg . Since 2005 he has been a full professor of sociology at the University of Basel. His areas of expertise are development sociology , political sociology and social policy . Ueli Mäder is particularly specialized in questions of social inequality as well as conflict and cooperation research . He retired at the end of July 2016.

For some years Ueli Mäder was a member of the left-green party BastA, which emerged from the POCH, in the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt .
