Ueli Staub

Ueli Staub (born January 1, 1934 in Zurich ; † April 9, 2012 in Thun ) was a Swiss journalist , photographer and jazz musician .

Life

Staub learned the vibraphone as an autodidact . During his dental studies, he played since 1953 in the Metronome Quartet , which in 1957 by Bruno Spoerri for Metronome Quintet was expanded and consisted in a changed line-up in 2013, was an international tour, and from 1979 to 2001 with Gert Westphal programs with poetry and jazz presented . He has also played in the Robi Weber Quartet since 1965 , continuing with the Five Blazers and the Swiss All Stars . He also recorded an album with Dennis Armitage .

Staub worked as a freelance journalist, including for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , mainly on the topics of music and tourism. He is the editor of the book “Jazzstadt Zürich”, published in 2003 by NZZ Verlag. In 1978 he married the television presenter and journalist Margrit Hadorn .
