Uke Bosse (born September 28, 1976 in Aurich ) is a German media worker, actor and university professor who works in the field of video games in particular.

Career

Bosse grew up in Stiekelkamperfehn in East Friesland . After graduating from Ubbo-Emmius-Gymnasium in Leer , he studied in Great Britain at London South Bank University and London Metropolitan University , where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Communication and Audiovisual Production in 2001 . In 2010 he also successfully completed a master's degree in Creative Media Practice at Bournemouth University.

In the years from 2001 onwards he developed a wide range of activities in the media industry. He has directed various film projects, including twice for the commercial for the Potsdam film festival Sehsuchten . He also worked as a freelance journalist for the Berlin taz . Bosse acquired his first knowledge of the video game sector in the quality assurance department of the developers Eidos Interactive and the Game Development Combine (SEK). During the interim position as a format developer at the competition broadcaster 9Live , Bosse joined the editorial team of Game One in 2007 , which he eventually took over. In 2010 and 2011, he presented the program “Play!” Produced by Red Bull , which was broadcast on the company's own channels Red Bull TV and Servus TV . From 2012 to 2014 he was editor-in-chief at the video game magazine Reload , which is broadcast in the ARD program EinsPlus , where he also directed.

Since April 2015 he has been a lecturer in the game design department at the Mediadesign Hochschule in Berlin, and since April 2016 as a professor. There he teaches the modules “Level design and player guidance” and “Basics of game design II”.

Acting activities

Uke Bosse is an actor and, according to his own statements, also works as a stand-up comedian . In the role of "Hans" in 2000, he participated in the London production of the 24-hour play The Warp Experience . The Internet Movie Database also recorded an appearance in the film Cannibal . He has also repeatedly appeared in front of the camera for television commercials, including since 2013 together with Sebastian Vettel for Tirendo.

In 2015 Uke Bosse was also seen in the role of Jaromir Pleber in the YouTube series Das Netzwerk , which is produced by Studio 71 . Since the end of 2015 Bosse has been involved in the YouTube video series Öko with Uke from WWF Germany . There he gives, among other things, tips for an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Bosse also had several roles in German film and television productions. For example, he played in the crime series Großstadtrevier and in 2016 stood at the side of Dieter Hallervorden for the film East Frisian for Beginners in front of the camera.
