Ulf Meyer zu Kueingdorf (* 1956 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German graphic artist, author and publisher.

family

Meyer zu Kueingdorf is the first son of the artist couple Lisa and Arthur Meyer zu Kueingdorf . His father Arthur was a well-known painter , his mother Lisa a picture weaver . His younger brother is Arno Meyer zu Küingdorf .

Life

Ulf Meyer zu Kueingdorf grew up in East Westphalia . He studied communication design in Hamburg. During his studies he designed the monthly program magazine for Werner Grassmann (co-founder of the Abaton Kino in Hamburg).

He worked under the then managing director Siegfried Loch in the advertising department at WEA Records and set up his own company MZK in 1983, where he realized covers for major labels , for example for Marius Müller-Westernhagen , Die Ärzte , Falco , Alphaville , Peter Maffay and many more.

Beate Wedekind hired him as deputy editor-in-chief as art director for the magazines Bunte , Ambiente and Pan (at Burda Verlag ). He then moved to Gruner + Jahr and worked as art director (development of the magazine Gala ).

He works for German cultural institutes, for example the Goethe-Institut , the German Culture Academy Tarabya in Istanbul and the Heinrich Böll Foundation (among other things for raw art construction ).

Since 2007 he has been responsible for the opening gala broadcast live on TV by ZDF and 3sat and the award ceremony of the Berlinale, on behalf of the artistic director of the Berlin International Film Festival Dieter Kosslick until 2019 and Mariette Rissenbeek / Carlo Chatrian as creative producer from 2020 .

He has published and edited over 40 books (publishers include Goldmann , Prestel , Droemer Knaur , DuMont etc.).

He lives and works in Berlin.
