Ulrich Ruh

Ulrich Ruh (born October 2, 1950 in Elzach ) is a German Catholic theologian and publicist .

Life

Ruh studied Catholic theology and German at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen . From 1974 to 1979 he was a research assistant at the Chair for Dogmatics and Ecumenical Theology (Professur Karl Lehmann ) of the Theological Faculty and was established in 1979 with the work “Secularization as an Interpretation Category. On the Significance of the Christian Heritage in Modern Spiritual History ”to the Dr. theol. PhD .

In 1979 he became an editor at Herder Korrespondenz . In 1991 he took over the chief editor as the successor to David Seeber . In October 2014 he resigned from his position as editor-in-chief and left Herder Korrespondenz .

In 2005, Ruh received the Federal Cross of Merit from the then Baden-Württemberg Minister for Culture, Youth and Sport Annette Schavan as an “appreciation for his services to church and society”. Since 2015, Ruh has been an honorary professor at the Theological Faculty of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and an honorary doctorate from the University of Erfurt .

Ruh is the organist in the parishes of Elzach and Yach and head of the Catholic education center there . He was also instrumental in founding the Elzacher KJG. He is a member of the CDU . Ruh has been an assessor on the board of the Musikverein Prechtal eV since 1990 and was made an honorary member of the association in 2016 due to his long-term involvement.
