The Ulrichskirche is a Protestant church in Neckargemünd in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in the north-west of Baden-Württemberg .

history

Neckargemünd was first mentioned in a document in 988. In the Worms Synodale , a visit report of the parishes in the diocese of Worms , the church consecrated to St. Ulrich was described in 1496 . The abbot of Schönau owned the church set at that time . In 1556, Ottheinrich introduced the Reformation in the Electoral Palatinate . Even with the Palatinate church division , the Ulrichskirche remained the Reformed . In 1770/71 the nave was extended. Renovations took place in 1854, 1898, 1963/64 and 1990–96.

description

The Ulrichskirche stands in the north of Neckargemünd on a terrace, which used to be a churchyard , above the Neckar . The single-nave late Gothic building was erected in the 16th century on the foundations of the previous church from the 13th century. The choir tower in the east is not arranged in the central axis of the church, but is shifted asymmetrically to the north. It has three late Gothic tracery windows and a pointed tent roof. The so-called metal donations of the wars survived a bell from 1477. It is decorated with a relief of the old patron St. Ulrich.

The small vestibule south of the nave with a ribbed vault is also late Gothic . The nave is covered with a hipped roof and has a mirror vault . The organ was built in 1785 by the Stumm brothers . In 1935 it was rebuilt by Steinmeyer and restored by Orgelbau Vier in 1995 . The instrument has 26 stops on two manuals and a pedal .
