Redrawing plan for narrow-gauge locomotives 1992
The tracing plan for narrow-gauge railroad vehicles shows which operating numbers the narrow-gauge railroad vehicles of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) and the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) received or should receive from 1992 onwards.
background
In preparation for the merger of the two state railways , the DR introduced the DB series scheme on January 1, 1992 . To this end, all DR series have been given new series designations . The narrow-gauge steam locomotives were added to the 099 series , the narrow-gauge diesel locomotives to the 299 series and the narrow-gauge small locomotives to the newly created 399 series . While the standard-gauge locomotives retained their previous serial numbers, the narrow-gauge locomotives were given new serial numbers. This gave all the narrow-gauge locomotives completely new locomotive numbers that did not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the previous operating number.
The vehicles were grouped according to their track width and then sorted according to their previous company numbers. The first digit of the serial number is derived from the track width (for example 7 = 750 mm). For meter-gauge vehicles, the serial numbers 101 to 109 were provided for the DB and the numbers from 110 for the DR.
Since all narrow-gauge locomotives of the DR were later transferred to new operators, the new numbers were only used briefly by the Deutsche Reichsbahn and in some cases by Deutsche Bahn AG from 1994 onwards. Many locomotives never ran with the new number due to Z-positions , retirement or sales. Since most of the operators are using the earlier numbers from the Reichsbahn era, the new locomotive numbers are no longer in use today. They are only occasionally attached on special occasions.
At DB, the changes only affected four small locomotives and one railcar of the Wangeroog Island Railway . The locomotives were also sorted into the new class 399 and the railcar got a new serial number for standardization. The changed numbers were used here until they were completely phased out in 1999. New acquisitions were given numbers according to the new scheme from 1992 and are therefore still in service today.
The redrawing leads to confusion even today, as similar number ranges were used. For example, the locomotive with the new number 099 747-8 does not correspond to the locomotive with the earlier number 99 1747-7 or 99 747. Therefore, this plan is still important today when identifying locomotives on photos, videos or documents.
The following list shows the different company numbers of the vehicles at the DR or DB, the type or series as well as the depot at which the locomotive was based at the time.
Steam locomotives
In total, new numbers were planned for 85 steam locomotives of the DR, 56 of them for 750 mm, five for 900 mm and 24 for 1000 mm gauge.
750 mm
The locomotives with a gauge of 750 mm were used on the Saxon narrow-gauge railways and on the Rügen Kleinbahn .

The DR provided three locomotives of the Berlin Park Railway (600 mm gauge) with new numbers. With a gauge of 750 mm, only two locomotives on the narrow-gauge railways in the Ore Mountains were taken into account. A third locomotive on Rügen was first assigned to the wrong series; this was corrected in November 1992. Eight vehicles with 1000 mm gauge were located in the Harz narrow-gauge network and on the Halle (Saale) industrial railway .
