action

After Chambers broke his knee, Yuri Boyka limps through his prison in the Ukraine: In order not to get hurt, he stays in the background among all the felons. Until he decides to take part in the Russian Prison Championship, which serves as a qualification for the Prison Spats Competition (PSC). Its winner should gain freedom. His manager Gorga agrees and Boyka wins thanks to hard training against the previous prison champion.

As a representative of Russia, he now has to face fighters from seven other countries in Gorgon Prison in Georgia . There he mainly meets the American Turbo , who provokes him with his arrogant manner. Of the eight participants, however, the Colombian Dolor is preferred by the prison guards and the prison chief: The seven remaining fighters have to work in a quarry during the day , while Dolor can calmly read a book and is even given doping by the prison guards. The favorites Turbo, Boyka, Dolor and Rodrigo Silva advance in the first round. The losers are initially supposed to be returned to their old prisons, but will be shot in a remote location. The next fight for Boyka is the Brazilian Silva, for Turbo the Colombian. In an exciting fight, Boyka can finally force Silva to give up.

Now that the managers of Boyka and Turbo have also been convinced to put their money on the Colombian, the guards start harassing Turbo in order to weaken him for the semi-final fight. He is put in a dungeon and brutally beaten. He and Boyka have become increasingly friends and so the Russian helps him to escape while working in the quarry, so that he can avoid defeat and not be shot like the other losers. In the final fight that follows, it looks like a victory for the favorite and crowd favorite Dolor, who recognizes Boyka's knee as a weak point and kicks him almost to collapse. However, Boyka can get up again, thinks of Turbo's words "Improvising, adapting and overcoming" and connects his knee with a mop. Boyka breaks Dolor's shin with a block and wins the final with a knockout . Because of the lost money, Turbo's former manager and other betting participants have an argument, in which the manager is killed.

When Boyka is not to be released as agreed, but to be shot by the prison director, Turbo reappears and saves him. The two get into a car in which the new trainer Turbos Gorga is sitting. He reveals to Boyka, his former fighter, that he had bet his money on him and hands him a suitcase with $ 2.5 million. Boyka asks the two of them to stop and get out. In the farewell scene, Turbo tells him his real name - Jericho - before Boyka hobbles down the street laughing, full of happiness and freedom.
