The Hungarian meadow yarrow or Pannonia real yarrow ( Achillea pannonica ) is a species of yarrow ( Achillea ) in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).
features
The Hungarian meadow yarrow is a deciduous, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 30 to 70 (90) cm. The alternate leaves are pinnate. Their basal leaves are equipped with more or less flatly spread out pinna. Their tips are often onion-shaped and as long as they are wide and rarely narrower than 0.3 mm. The basal leaves are often half or as long as the entire plant.
The end shield is usually longer than 2 cm. The diameter of the main screen is 4 to 8 cm. The product of the length times the width of the bracts is on average 13 mm². The pollen grain diameter is larger than 36 µm. The length of the ovary is greater than 1.9 mm.
The flowering period is from June to August. The pollination is done by insects that spread the fruits by the wind.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 72, less often 36 or 54. The species is octoploid .
ingredients
The plant does not contain any proazulenes .
Occurrence
The distribution area of the Hungarian meadow yarrow includes Central Europe, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and Turkey. The European-continental species is found predominantly in the flat and hilly areas. In Austria it occurs only in the Pannonian region of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. As a habitat, it prefers dry and semi- arid grassland , downy oak bushes and forest steppes. It occurs particularly in societies of the associations Seslerio-Festucion pallentis or Geranion sanguinei.
The Hungarian meadow yarrow is a semi-light plant. It also shows warmth, temperate steppe climate and dryness. With regard to the soil, their occurrence is an indication of pronounced nitrogen poverty.
It is oligo- to mesohemerobic .
Systematics
The Hungarian yarrow belongs to the aggregate of the Achillea millefolium and is difficult to distinguish from the other types of the aggregate. Synonyms are Achillea millefolium var. Lanata W.DJKoch , Achillea millefolium subsp. pannonica (Scheele) Hayek and Achillea lanata (WDJKoch) F.Herm. Another synonym, considered valid by some authors, is Achillea seilii J. Presl & C. Presl .
