content
The film takes a look at the mass production of food. He does this without any language or location information, leaving the viewer to evaluate what he has seen.
Uncommented film recordings are shown from the breeding to the slaughter of animals, as well as the industrial planting and harvesting of fruit and vegetables . The excessive use of pesticides and the treatment of animals as a commodity, e.g. Special attention is paid, for example, to the mechanical selection and packaging of live chicks .
Between the scenes, shots of the workers in the factories and plantations were cut, showing them during their lunch break.
Reviews
- Skip : Eating is power. The Austrian filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter shows the monstrous parallel universe of food production in huge images.
- OE1 ( Memento from September 9, 2006 in the Internet Archive ): Precise pictures of slaughterhouses and vegetable farms from all over Europe provide information. But there is no information about where the recordings come from. Interest should only be aroused in the thing itself and something should be achieved in the viewer.
"The documentary, assembled in an unusual rhythm, leads into complex and mysterious worlds of images, confronted with a creativity that has turned into destructive and stimulates reflection on the biblical commission of creation."
