geography

Grasheim is a street village and is located in the middle of the old Bavarian Donaumoos , a part of the Lower Bavarian hill country . This is part of the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany .

In terms of traffic, Grasheim is on the northeast-southwest state road St 2049 from Ingolstadt (southern bypass) to Pöttmes . This is crossed by the ND 14 district road from Obermaxfeld via Untergrasheim and Berg im Gau to Hörzhausen . In addition, the district road ND 15 leads from Grasheim south to Untergrasheim and after a sharp east bend via Karlshuld to Lichtenheim into the state road St 2048 .

The neighboring towns of Grasheim are the Königsmooser districts Obergrasheim , Stengelheim and Untermaxfeld in the west, Obermaxfeld , Rosing , Zitzelsheim and Nazibühl in the north, the main town Karlshuld and Kleinhohenried in the east and Berg im Gau with its districts Siefhofen , Dettenhofen and Oberarnbach in the south.

history

On February 28, 1796, the former Donaumoos supervisor Graßmeier built a farm as a colonist on moorland that had been given to him free of charge. Later the yard of the colonist Jakob Spehr was added. These two farms in Grasheim (which at that time belonged to the Untermaxfeld community ) have now remained for a long time.
From 1820 to 1830, more families were added, who founded the Grasheim community in 1830 with the towns of Obergrasheim and Untergrasheim . In 1860 the community of Grasheim was reorganized into the community of Grasheim (largest part of the old Untergrasheim), Obergrasheim (now part of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Berg im Gau , today Königsmoos ) and Untergrasheim (a smaller part of the old Untergrasheim in the southeast, also belonged to Berg im Gau , today like Grasheim bei Karlshuld).

In terms of church, the Catholics of Grasheim have always belonged to the parish of Sankt Ludwig in Karlshuld , the Protestants to the Protestant parish also in Karlshuld. The Catholics in the Untergrasheim district belong to the parish of Sankt Joseph in Untermaxfeld .

Until July 1, 1972, the independent community of Grasheim belonged to the Swabian district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell with the regional reform in Bavaria to the enlarged Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg an der Donau, which was named the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on May 1, 1973 . On May 1, 1978, Grasheim was incorporated into the municipality of Karlshuld with a population of 455 at that time.
