Untersteinbach is a district in the Asselborn district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Untersteinbach refers to the medieval settlement that was first documented in 1351 as Steynenbach / Steynbach . The Steinbach , which runs between Obersteinbach and Untersteinbach, gave its name to the establishment of the farm. After a second farmyard had formed next to the original settlement core, the settlement name was supplemented with the words upper / lower to distinguish it .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the Porz office was dissolved and the Dürscheid Honschaft , to which Untersteinbach belonged, was politically assigned to Mairie Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district . Untersteinbach had 45 Catholic residents in 1845.

In the list of the Kingdom of Prussia for the 1885 census, Untersteinbach was listed as a place to live for the rural community of Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district. At that time six houses with 40 inhabitants were counted.

In 1905 the two settlements had 16 residential buildings and 104 residents.
