(4755) Nicky is a main inner belt asteroid discovered on October 6, 1931 by the American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh (1906–1997) at the Lowell Observatory ( IAU code 690) in Flagstaff , Arizona , a year and a half after his discovery of the dwarf planet Pluto .
The asteroid's orbit around the Sun has a high eccentricity of 0.2490 .
Julian Oey examined the light curve of the asteroid from November 13 to 19, 2007 at the Kingsgrove Observatory in a suburb of Sydney and determined a rotation period of 5.057 (± 0.002) hours.
According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (4755) Nicky assumed a light surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade an S asteroid .
(4755) Nicky was named after Nichole Tombaugh, Clyde Tombaugh's granddaughter, on June 27, 1991. The asteroid of the main inner belt (4510) was named Shawna after another granddaughter of Clyde Tombaugh, Shawna Willoughby .
