Communities Urbach

The Urbach is an 8½ km long stream in the Rems-Murr district in Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Rems from the right after passing through the village of Urbach .

course

The Urbach rises in the southwestern Welzheimer forest on the southern edge of the district of Welzheim in the Eselshaldener Stubensandstein area on the slope next to a landfill. It initially flows southwest through Welzheim-Steinbruck and through the so-called Gutenauer Valley , also popularly known as the Gommertale . Then it moves in a rather wide valley to the south-southeast of the community of the same name Urbach . In the extended village, it finally bends to the southwest and then joins the Rems flowing to the west in the industrial park on its southern edge from the left .

Catchment area

The brook drains a catchment area of 11 km², which extends 6¼ km in a north-south direction and across it is a maximum of 2½ km wide in a west-east direction. In the west and north it borders on the catchment area of the more important Rems inflow Wieslauf ; the distinctive dividing line follows the road from Schorndorf to Welzheim in sections . In the east, the Bärenbach , which runs in an urbach-like direction south to the Rems, competes along its entire length , whose right lower branch Maierbach flows through the flat right Remsaue to the lowest Urbach .

Valley nature

The Gutenau Valley is characterized by forested wet meadows in the northern part and by orchards and agriculture in the southern part. The largest tributary of the Urbach is the Katzenbrunnenbach coming from the east , which has created its own small valley between Rohrberg and Häule . The course of the Urbach stream is lined with black alder in places . In the Gutenau valley there is a brook ford , where the brook overflows the crossing path.
