Urbanize is a hip-hop - group , founded in the Ruhr area by Marc 'Lapaz' Markowski and Roman 'Pott Berlin' Schwitalla.
history
The group was founded in 2005 by two friends Marc Markowski and Roman Schwitalla. At first the two were part of the band DaCru , which soon separated due to musical differences. The two then decided to start their musical career together.
Martin de Vries , a producer from Berlin, became aware of the two and signed them. Urbanize recorded the single "Warten auf dich", which became known on the Internet in 2006, made it into the German single charts in spring 2007 and reached number 37. For the European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland in 2008 , they and Honke published the football anthem Black Red Gold , produced by Roman Schwitalla. On July 25, 2008 Urbanize released the EP Believe in You , which is only available from download services such as Musicload or iTunes .
On May 7, 2010 the single Schwarz Rot Gold appeared again on the occasion of the 2010 World Cup .
In the German edition of the casting show X Factor , Urbanize reached the so-called boot camp. It was there that her mentor George Glueck had the idea of bringing Urbanize together with the singer Candy Hammerschmidt. Schwitalla, Markowski and Hammerschmidt moved into the live shows as "UrbanCandy". On October 5, 2010, “UrbanCandy” dropped out of the casting format in seventh place. On October 19, 2010, the band announced on their homepage that Hammerschmidt had left the band and that the band would use the name "Urbanize" again.
On November 2nd, 2010 it was announced that Urbanize will record songs with the singer Isabel "Bella" Soares from now on. The single "Rad der Zeit" - the first as a trio - was released on September 9, 2011 across Germany as a CD and as a download.
The album "Grenzenlos", on which there are 12 other tracks in addition to "Wheel of Time", was released on November 9, 2012 as CD and download.
On May 15, 2014 Urbanize came back with a new music video "We want peace". The song deals with the peace demonstrations. In the video clip, one hundred people can be seen forming their hands into a peace sign in selfie videos.

- Marc Markowski
Markowski, also known by his rapper - pseudonym "Lapaz" , comes from Herne and grew up in a district where violence and unemployment are everyday occurrences . In 1999, Markowski found hip-hop through the German rapper Kool Savas , his role model, and quickly began to write his own songs about his fears, goals and feelings.
- Roman Schwitalla
Schwitalla's life was devoted almost exclusively to music from an early age, he gained experience in his father's recording studio in Dinslaken , who works as an advertising composer . He plays the piano and started singing at the age of 4. His musical role models are Usher , Dru Hill and Destiny's Child .

Hammerschmidt was born in Berlin and has always been interested in music. In 2009 she applied to Stefan Raab's selection show for the Eurovision Song Contest Our Star for Oslo and in 2010 to X Factor . Hammerschmidt has a three year old son (2010) and lived in the United States until early 2008 .
- Isabel Soares
Soares lives in Hamburg. With a title from Dieter Bohlen she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 and reached number 36 in the German single charts with the title. Their second single Like Snow in June reached the top 50 of the German sales charts. She has been working as a musical performer since 2005, currently at the Delphi Showpalast .
