Urs Berner (born April 17, 1944 in Schafisheim ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

Urs Berner comes from a farming family in a small village in the Aargau Seetal . He attended the district school in nearby Seon and then the Wettingen teacher training college . He then served as a primary school teacher working and then spent several semesters studying history at the University of Zurich . He later worked as a domestic editor for a Swiss daily newspaper, then lived as a journalist in London before settling in Zurich as a freelance writer . Urs Berner has lived and worked in Bern since 1983 and writes novels and short stories.

Berner traveled a lot and stayed for longer stays in France , Spain , Great Britain , Italy , Portugal , the Czech Republic , Ireland and South America . One of his main themes is to gain a foothold with one's own roots in the near and far foreign countries. He is a storyteller who accompanies idiosyncratic characters with loving and precise sympathy, be it in the village , in the big city , in the shopping center , in the cultural center or on the island . The rich worlds of fantasy mix with the atmosphere of a precisely observed reality.
