Urs Martin Strub

Urs Martin Strub (born April 20, 1910 in Olten ; † August 16, 2000 in Zurich , legal resident in Olten and Trimbach ) was a Swiss psychiatrist , poet and essayist .

Life

Urs Martin Strub, son of wealthy businessman Paul Strub and Marie-born Eggenschwiler, Maturand at the seminary Engelberg 1931, took a degree in medicine at the Universities of Zurich , Basel , Bern , Munich and Paris in which he in 1937 with the state examination and the Doctorate to Dr. med. completed.

Professionally, Strub was initially an assistant in Vienna , from 1938 to 1942 assistant doctor at the Burghölzli psychiatric clinic in Zurich, from 1943 to 1946 senior psychiatric physician at the Rheinau mental hospital , from 1947 to 1969 chief physician of the psychiatric sanatorium in Kilchberg , until he started his own psychiatric practice Zurich opened and took over the management of his family's steel trading company in Solothurn .

Urs Martin Strub - in 1943 he married Liselotte Berta, the daughter of Hans Robert Pflüger - died on August 16, 2000, four months after turning 90 in Zurich.

The lyricist and prose poet Urs Martin Strub - he published his first volume of poetry as early as 1930 - sought the musicality of the form in his poems, some of which were set to music. Strub was awarded the Prize of the Swiss Schiller Foundation in 1941 and 1954 and the Culture Prize of the Canton of Solothurn in 1976.
