Ursaline Bryant , also Bryant-King (born November 4, 1947 in Washington, DC ) is an American actress .

life and career

Bryant initially worked in Washington DC as administrative assistant to the government the Ministry of Labor. She later worked as a model in New York . There she was under contract with the Wilhelmina Agency . She also worked for the renowned model agency from Nina Blanchard and Cunningham and Associates in Los Angeles .

She eventually switched to acting . From the late 1970s, Bryant played Theater in New York City , where she was a member of the Negro Ensemble Company . In the 1979/1980 season she worked with the Shakespeare Company in New York together with Sally Kirkland and Jared Martin in a stage version of the sonnets by William Shakespeare . In 1980 she was a member of the Macbeth Chorus of the Shakespeare Company .

Bryant starred in two plays that deal with the myth of the legendary Amazon queen Calafia (Califia). She appeared in the 1984 play Piano Bar by C. Bernard Jackson . In 2008 she played at the Buriel Clay Theater in San Francisco in the one-person play Queen Calafia: Ruler of California by John William Templeton , a modern twist on the myth, the role of the anthropologist Dr. Wright Now.

In the 2006/2007 season, Ursaline Bryant appeared at the Los Angeles Theater Center in A Medley of One Act Plays . For her role in the one-act play Madam C .J. Walker , she was nominated for Best Local Actress at the 2008 NAACP Theater Awards . In autumn 2008 she played the role of Old Bonaparte in the play House of Flowers by Truman Capote for the theater company Books with Feets .

Bryant was active in film and television roles between the 1970s and the late 1990s. She moved to Los Angeles to establish herself as an actress. Her first role there was in 1977 in The Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew Mysteries . Directed by Robert Aldrich , she played together with Peter Falk in Harry lets the puppets dance in 1981 . She was seen in Kesse Bees on the mat in 1980 . In 1987 she played Roxanne on the side of Robert Loggia and Monte Markham in the comedy Mr. Alligator ... See You Later .

She played "Captain Tryla Scott" in 1988 in the episode The Conspiracy or Conspiracy of Starship Enterprise - The Next Century . 1992 she was seen in Doogie Howser, MD . She worked in Grace in 1996 . Bryant appeared in the 1998 comedy series Seinfeld . In 2010 she appeared in Flood Streets in the role of Ruby. In the feature film that is set in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina , Bryant portrays an elderly Creole with terminal cancer who still lives happily in an abandoned house with no electricity or water.

She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild , the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), and the Actors Equity Association .

Bryant has been married to Tony E. King since December 28, 1975. She also goes by the name Bryant-King.
