Monte Markham

Monte Markham (born June 21, 1935 in Manatee County , Florida ) is an American actor and director.

Life

Markham was born in Florida in 1935. After finishing school he became an actor. He made his Broadway debut as an actor in 1973 in the musical Irene . Markham received the Theater World Award for his role in this play . He then appeared on stage as an actor in the comedy Same Time, Next Year .

In addition to his roles on stage, Markham was active in various television productions as a television actor. Markham played the dual role of Ken and his grandfather Luke Carpenter, frozen in the ice of Alaska for almost 70 years, in the ABC sitcom The Second Hundred Years (1967–1968), then in 1969 the lead role in a television series based on Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and from 1973 to 1974 starred in the television revival of Perry Mason . However, none of the series was able to establish itself permanently, so that he later had to be content with supporting roles. Markham also played in various movies, for example in Revenge of the Magnificent Seven , Lost in the Bermuda Triangle and Hour of the Gun .

Markham also works as a director. In 1988 he made his directorial debut with the film Defense Play . Three years later he directed Neon City , for which he also worked as a screenwriter for the first time and so far once. Subsequently, he was involved as a director in various television productions, so he shot about three episodes of Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu , where he also held a regular supporting role as the experienced lifeguard Captain Don Thorpe in the first seasons . In the 2010s, Markham, now in his 80s, was in front of the camera for numerous productions, often inexpensive independent films.

Markham has been married to Klaire Keevil Hester since 1961 .
