Redžepova made her stage debut in a competition for young singers on Radio Skopje . With a well-known hit by Radmila Karaklajic , she won second prize and received offers for a singing career. Her parents strictly refused. After graduating from school, Redžepova performed with an orchestra from Strumica to earn money for her studies in Belgrade.
After touring Yugoslavia, Redžepova sang in front of compatriots in Australia , including at the Sydney Opera House and, after her first year of studies, in front of Yugoslav workers in Sudan . She studied Arabic at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade . A chance encounter at Skopje Airport enabled her to film with Radiotelevizija Beograd . It was the third TV adaptation of the drama by Bora Stankovic (1876–1927). The tragedy takes place in the southern Serbian city of Vranje and is about a singing Roma girl who is supposed to marry an old man. In the meantime, Redžepova played this role at the National Theater in Belgrade , which she had received as a maternity replacement.

As a singer, she performed in front of foreign diplomats and on the island of Brijuni for state guest Fidel Castro and Josip Broz Tito .
When the Yugoslav Wars broke out in the 1990s, Redžepova withdrew from public life for a few years. She saw this as the destruction of her homeland. In 2012 she received a national pension “for her outstanding contribution to culture” and saw it as “the most important recognition of her career”.
