Uttenhofen is part of the Stephansposching municipality in the Deggendorf district , in the Gäuboden , south of the Danube .

location

The parish village of Uttenhofen is located in the Gäuboden about 500 meters east of Stephansposching. Today it is directly connected to Stephansposching, which means that Uttenhofen is usually not differentiated from Stephansposching.

history

In the Marterläcker construction area, district archaeologist Dr. Karl Schmotz found a circular moat from the Middle Neolithic in November 2008 , which could possibly have been a cultic site. Between Uttenhofen and Stephansposching there was also an extensive settlement area for band ceramics , and fragments of the Münchshöfen culture were also discovered. To the east of the village there are finds of the bell beaker culture , and Uttenhofen is an important site of Celtic settlement traces from the Hallstatt and Latène times . Roman fragments were also plowed.

The name probably suggests that it was an extension of the monastery from the 8th century by Utto , the first abbot of the Metten monastery. In the 13th century Uttenhofen belonged to the Seebach Hofmark of the Passau Monastery . Around 1230, the Passau bishop left Uttenhofen to Count Albert IV von Bogen as a high esteem fiefdom to Leibgeding . The Counts of Bogen died out in 1242.

The place appears as Vttenchoven in the second Duke Surbar , which was built before 1300 . It was then owned by Niedernburg Abbey and was first referred to as Hofmark in 1374. The Degenbergs , who owned the Hofmark Stephansposching from the 14th century , acted as bailiffs . In 1538, Abbess Brigitta von Seiboltsdorf submitted a letter to the ducal government in Straubing against the arbitrariness of Baron Johann von Degenberg, because he had even captured the monastery judge of Uttinghofen and only released it after four days. But they could not prevail against the factual confiscation of the Hofmark by the Degenberger. In 1593 there was another complaint from Abbess Kunigunde von Puchberg about the Degenbergs. Apparently this lawsuit was unsuccessful, because after the Degenbergs died out in 1602, the Hofmark fell to the sovereign together with Stephansposching.

Over the years Uttenhofen lost its status as Hofmark and in the year of conscription in 1752 is only mentioned as a main team within the Electoral Hofmark Stephansposching. The former owner of the Hofmarks, the Niedernburg monastery, now appeared only as the landlord.

With the first community edict 1808/1811 Uttenhofen came to the tax district Stephansposching, with the second community edict 1818/1821 to the community Stephansposching.

About 1000 people live in Uttenhofen. The place is characterized by agriculture. The center of the place is the chapel, in which services take place at irregular intervals. Probably the biggest event is the annual May Festival , which takes place on April 30th and May 1st.
