The Vöslauer mineral water GmbH (emphasis in VÖSLAUER on the second syllable) is a mineral water bottler with headquarters in Lower Austria Bad Vöslau and belongs to the beverage company Ottakringer Brauerei GmbH. The marketing of the licensed brands Pepsi and 7 Up and the bottling of Almdudler also contribute to Vöslauer's sales .

history

The company was founded in 1936 by the Zentralsparkasse as the Vöslauer Heilquellenverwertungsgesellschaft. The water for the thermal swimming pool in Bad Vöslau comes from the same source. The PET bottle was introduced in 1996. Mineral water bottles have not been refilled since April 2003, instead a plastic returnable bottle was brought onto the market, which is not refilled, but recycled.

For recycling, u. a. PET to PET Recycling Österreich GmbH, based in Müllendorf in Burgenland .

In 2018 the company achieved a turnover of 102.96 million euros.

On January 1, 2010, Vöslauer Mineralwasser GmbH was integrated into the Ottakringer brewery holding.

In December 2011, Vöslauer received the gold - and therefore the highest - quality award for the product "Vöslauer mineral water without" in the 0.5 liter PET bottle from the DLG (German Agricultural Society) food award with the maximum number of points receive.

In the same year the Stiftung Warentest tested the product “Vöslauer tingling” from the original source VII in the 1.0 liter disposable bottle with the grade “poor” due to the defective taste and the increased proportion of 12.6 µg / l of acetaldehyde .

In October 2014, Vöslauer brought a one-liter returnable glass bottle onto the market, along with a specially developed “8 × 1 liter split crate”.

On April 2, 2015, the Federal Competition Authority (BWB) announced a decision by the Cartel Court dated March 3, 2015 (25 Kt 76/14) against Vöslauer Mineralwasser GmbH. A fine of 653,775 euros was imposed due to vertical price coordination of retail prices with food retailers in the period from January 2007 to December 2012.

Products

In addition to the conventional still and carbonated mineral water, flavored mineral water (so-called "near-water" products) has been sold in various flavors under the name "Vöslauer Balance" since 2000.

Since 2007 a lemonade has also been offered under the name "Vöslauer Bio" in various flavors.

The Balance line was expanded in 2013 to include Vöslauer Balance Juicy.

In 2015, Vöslauer brought out the mineral water types, still, mild and sparkling, as well as super sparkling.

Since 2016, Vöslauer mineral water has also been available in different flavors - and without calories.

Vöslauer tea was added to the range in 2017. Since then it has been available in two varieties, white tea and green tea, lemon balm. Vöslauer also sells still mineral water in the Baby, Junior and Sport Edition.

The bottles are made of either PET or glass and, depending on the product, have different levels of recycling. The glass bottles have a returnable deposit and there are also 1L PET bottles with a deposit, but Vöslauer puts them in the recycling system. In December 2018 Austria's first one hundred percent recycled PET bottle was introduced, on the 0.5 liter WITHOUT. Since the beginning of 2020, all Vöslauer bottles have been 100% recycled.

The source of this mineral water, which is 660 meters deep, is artesian .

The source was already known to the Romans and there is evidence that it was used as a healing spring as early as 50 AD. In the Middle Ages it was mentioned in documents from 1136 as the Feselov spring . The healing power was only confirmed by analyzes in 1775; The spring was first taken in 1825. The source of the original Vöslau spring rises in the Bad Vöslau thermal baths .
